If you are studying waste or the environment, classroom presentations developed to meet your specific needs are available for single or groups of classes. Topics that can be covered in these presentations are shown below.

GreenGC picture Preschools program

The Wipe Out Waste program for pre-schools provides:

  • classroom presentations and assistance - providing teachers with information and resources to allow them to integrate waste minimisation activities in the day to day running of the centre (for example, providing worm farms to preschools to help recycle organic waste)
  • the Wipe Out Waste preschool newsletter - includes ideas for student activities and case studies of existing waste minimisation programs in preschools
  • the Mobile Waste Education Facility - if the facility is visiting your primary school, pre-schoolers can now participate. The Welcome Aboard lesson provides an introduction to the program and briefly discusses recycling and waste minimisation in a fun and interactive way.

 

GreenGC picture Secondary schools program

The Wipe Out Waste Secondary Schools Program can advise teachers on developing lessons associated with waste minimisation programs or can develop and deliver presentations relevant to a number of student key learning areas. On request, structured lessons are developed in liaison with class teachers.

Options for secondary schools include:

  • assistance to teachers in the development of lessons based on a range of key learning areas. Wipe Out Waste has delivered lessons on many waste related themes including environmental economics, public health, history and future waste technologies
  • hands on assistance in devising and implementing auditing and waste minimisation strategies
  • liaison with teachers and school staff
  • waste minimisation and litter advisory services associated with waste minimisation programs.
