Amended landfill disposal fees and charges
From 1 December 2011, Council is required to pay the waste levy to the Queensland Government on landfilled wastes, as per the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011. The levy will be passed on to landfill customers where applicable, by incorporating the levy into the landfill disposal charges for the following waste types:
- commercial and industrial waste
- construction and demolition waste
- regulated waste
Please note that the waste levy does not apply to municipal solid waste (domestic waste).
An additional $1 per tonne charge has also been applied to waste charges to cover additional operational costs associated with meeting the legislative requirements. For more details about the waste levy and the new waste legislation, please visit www.derm.qld.gov.au.
